Overview of the Adult Family Care (AFC) Program
The Adult Family Care (AFC) Program is a MassHealth initiative designed to provide essential care and assistance to individuals who are elderly and/or disabled residing in Massachusetts. Participants in the program receive daily support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), ensuring they can maintain their independence in a safe environment. ADLs include bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, eating, mobility assistance, and toileting. Additionally, the program offers nursing oversight and help with household tasks such as laundry and light housekeeping.

Eligibility Requirements for MassHealth Adult Family Care
The AFC Program is available to Massachusetts residents aged 16 or older who have a medical, physical, cognitive, or mental condition that affects their ability to live independently. Individuals must require daily assistance with at least one Activity of Daily Living and be enrolled in MassHealth Standard or CommonHealth to qualify.
